The weekend, Pt. 1

It was a Dickens kind of weekend. You know, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...."

Friday afternoon I took two more truckloads of stuff to my daughter's house for their neighborhood garage sale. (That would be the worst of times.) I made it back home in time to clean up so K and I could meet up with K's former boss (she just got a nice promotion) at Ginger Man, then on to Season's 52 for our 8:45 dinner reservation. (Definitely the best of times.)

At Ginger Man, despite my desperate attempt to protect her, K ordered one of these:

I knew better. IMO you've got to be a hard-core brewholic to choke down one of those nasty things. But surprisingly, or maybe just to show me up, she said she liked it.

Then on to Seasons 52, where we both had absolutely perfect filet mignon, potatoes, and some strange orange/green garnishment that everyone else was intent on eating. Go figure. Gina's BF bought 2 or 3 bottles of $100+ champagne to celebrate her new promotion....I think he had an ulterior motive *wink*...., but K and I behaved ourselves, having some wine and (me) a lone Glenfiddich.

It was all I could do to pull myself out of bed at 0-five-hundred on Saturday morning to travel to my daughter's to set up her/our garage sale. It was total pandemonium! I had posted a notice on Craig's List that we would be open from 8am to 3pm, but there were people swarming all over our stuff by 7:15.

By noon we were all but sold out, so we took the few remaining things and put them at the curb with a note that said, "Free if you haul it off today." Let's just say there are quite a few haciendas around town tonight newly redecorated in "Early Lowandslow." Later K and I made a run to Half Price Books to offload some unused reading material, then managed to salvage a few peaceful hours Saturday evening.

Whew! That's enough for now. More later. How was your weekend?
